Agentscape Partner in the EUROCITIZEN Project

The EUROCITIZEN project will develop a new, massively multi-user on-line game of knowledge, to promote, European intercultural education, cross-national cooperation, and enhance European awareness among citizens of Europe. The game model is based on a "knowledge quiz" paradigm and will target multilingual/multicultural audiences. It will be developed in four languages (English, German, Spanish and Greek) and will involve state-of-the-art ICT technologies:

intelligent 3D AVATAR Agents with natural language understanding capability intelligent, dynamic user profiling interactive multimedia advanced networking The game will be developed by a consortium of six Euro-pean private companies and universities: MLS Firmware SA, Thessaloniki, Greece (Coordinator) Agentscape AG, Berlin, Germany University of Barcelona, Technoetica Institute, Barcelona, Spain University of Liverpool, International Centre for Digital Content, Liverpool, United Kingdom Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Dept. of Informatics, Thessaloniki, Greece Total Language Solutions, Plc, Devon, United Kingdom The project is partly funded from the ‘eCONTENT’ FP5 Eu-ropean Programme under contract No. 22089 and partly from the commercial partners' resources. The project dura-tion is 30 months (end date Jan. 2005).

Agentscape’s role in the project is the development of a social-intelligent agent capable of natural language communications with the human users. The virtual agent is equipped with a knowledge pool of domain-specific solu-tions and can provide each individual EUROCITIZEN-participant with personalised and contextualised multimedia information. The agent can inform and assist the users also in proactive manner about the various socio-cultural aspects of the European countries and in the same time offer enjoyable entertainment. Agentscape AG develops the EUROCITIZEN - Infrastructure based on its proprietary basic technology CyMON and Cyb and uses for the EUROCITIZEN-Applications its extensive experience gained via customer - portals like www.flirtmaschine.de and www.puc-online.de. Agentscape entwickelt im Rahmen des Projekts einen sozial-intelligenten -Agenten, der in der Lage ist, natürlichsprachliche Ein- und Ausgaben zu verarbeiten. Darüber hinaus ist der virtuelle Agent mit einem wohl durchdachten Wissenspool aus bestimmten Domänen ausgestattet, und kann, individualisiert und kontextbezogen, multimediale Informationen an jeden einzelnen EUROCITIZEN-Teilnehmer bereitstellen. Er kann pro-aktiv agieren, beraten, über die jeweiligen soziokulturellen Aspekte der Europäischen Länder unterrichten und zugleich unterhalten. Die Agentscape AG entwickelt die EUROCITIZEN Agenten-Infrastruktur basierend auf ihrer eigenen Basistechnologie CyMON und Cyb , und verwendet bei dem Aufbau der EUROCITIZEN-Applikationen die umfangreichen Erfahrungen, die sie in Kunden-Portalen wie www.flirtmachine.de und www.puc-online.de, gewonnen hat.
